How is Our BioRePeel Different Than Traditional Peels?
When you think of peels you envision bright red, flaking, and irritated skin with days of downtime. Remember that scene from Sex and the City when Samantha walked in with a beet-red face after getting a chemical peel at her doctor’s office? When we think of chemical peels, that is where our mind goes.
The biggest question clients ask is, “Am I going to be red and flaky after?” Rest assured, our BioRePeel is different. Today’s blog will give you all the information you need, plus answer your top peel questions so you feel comfortable trying our BioRePeel.
What Is A Chemical Peel?
A traditional chemical peel uses a solution applied to the skin that lowers the skin’s pH levels to exfoliate the top layers of the skin. Traditional chemical peels create an uncomfortable sensation and slight burning while the peel works. Afterward, a neutralizing solution is applied to “stop the peel.” Post-peel the skin is pink, feels dry and irritated, and will flake for a few days.
🙌 Thankfully, not all peels are created equal! After extensive research on peels that align with our philosophy, we came across the BioRePeel and brought it into our practice.
What Is The BioRePeel?
💆♀️ The BioRePeel, also known as the “No Downtime Peel” across the esthetics and medical spa industries, gently exfoliates the top layers of skin while stimulating collagen and elastin production.
What Are The Benefits Of The BioRePeel?
The BioRePeel uses a combination of natural acids, enzymes, peptides, and vitamins to exfoliate while removing impurities from the skin. This process helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (after the first peel!), acne scarring, large pores, textured skin, and hyperpigmentation (or dark spots).
How Is The BioRePeel Different From Traditional Peels?
The BioRePeel is an oil-and-water mixture, creating a barrier on the skin’s surface that protects it from dehydration. This allows the acids, enzymes, peptides, and vitamins to exfoliate and penetrate the skin’s barrier to stimulate collagen and elastin.
This process means there is little to no burning sensation. Your skin may feel tingly and slightly warm during the peel. Unlike traditional peels, the BioRePeel self-neutralizes after 7 minutes, so there is no need for a neutralizer. After the peel, your skin will be slightly pink due to the stimulation of the skin’s top layers and surface capillaries.
Traditional peels are water-based, which lowers the skin’s pH and draws water from the skin. This dehydrates the skin and causes a burning sensation when you get a peel. They don’t stop “peeling” until they are neutralized, so your practitioner must carefully monitor your skin. Post-peel your skin will be red or pink, feel irritated for a day or two, and then you will experience some flaking as the skin repairs itself.

Who Is The BioRePeel For?
🙋♀️ The BioRePeel is great for all skin types, including sensitive and dry skin! If you notice more fine lines and wrinkles, dislike your acne scarring, large pores, textured skin, or uneven skin tone, then the BioRePeel is for you!
Do I Need A Series?
Yes, we recommend a treatment series of 4-6 peels spaced out every 7-10 days. We can do it every 2 weeks, but it takes longer to see the full results. For best results a series of 6 peels spaced out once a week is our recommendation.
How Do I Maintain My Skin After A Peel Series?
We don’t recommend peels as an ongoing process. A series done 2-3 times a year is ideal. After completing your peel series, we recommend home care products to support and maintain your skin’s results. Retinol, Vitamin C, Peptides, and Hyaluronic Acid will keep your skin hydrated and help normalize cell turnover.
Another great option to maintain results is to come in for monthly Dermaplane treatments. Dermaplaning removes the surface of dead skin cells and peach fuzz which stimulates cell turnover. As we age cell turnover slows down. Regular Dermaplaning treatments mean your cells are turning over monthly helping you maintain peel results between your peel series.
When Will I See Results?
You will begin to see results after the first peel. However, doing a weekly series will help you maintain results after doing a series of peels and specifically target concerns such as wrinkles, scarring, large pores, and dark spots.
How Do I Prep My Skin For The BioRePeel?
We recommend stopping all active ingredients, such as Retinol, any Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Salicylic Acid, and Vitamin C, for 7 days before starting your peel series. The peel series works on increasing cell turnover, and these active ingredients also do. We don’t want to overstimulate your skin. Using these ingredients with your peel may result in more redness and flaking post-peel, and you may notice some burning sensations during the peel.
💧Instead, we suggest using a hyaluronic serum, peptides, or Salmon DNA serums for 7 days before starting your peel series. This will maximize your peel results when your skin is hydrated!
How Do I Care For My Skin Post-Peel?
Post-peel, we suggest washing your skin with either an oil-based or cream-based cleanser morning and night. Use a Hyaluronic Serum and pair it with our Salmon DNA serum twice a day. Another option is to layer our peptide serum in the morning and Melatonik at night over your Hyaluronic serum
Hyaluronic is key during a peel series because this serum keeps your skin hydrated. Hydrated skin prevents any post-peel flaking that can occur from having dry skin.
