Many of you have never heard of microcurrent.

Microcurrent is a natural, anti-aging treatment that builds facial muscles, smoothes wrinkles, and tightens the skin. To put it in easier terms, microcurrent is like a gym workout for your face.

What happens when we lift weights?

We grab a heavy weight to engage the muscles which build and strengthen the muscles in our body.

Microcurrent uses an electromagnetic current to stimulate the facial muscles. The microcurrent treatment is acting like lifting weights for your facial muscles.

Over the course of a treatment series, your facial muscles lift and tighten, smoothing fine lines, wrinkles and lifting sagging skin.

Your skin takes on a youthful appearance by targeting the jowls, nasolabial folds, neck, forehead, and around the eyes.

This picture shows our facial muscles. You can see how our facial muscles are interconnected. Microcurrent targets the entire face and neck during each 20-30 minute treatment.

Microcurrent builds collagen, the structure of your skin.  Think of collagen like the foundation of your house. When you build on top of a strong foundation, the house is going to be more structurally safe.

When we strengthen the collagen and the muscles, our skin is going to be strong and our muscles stay tight.

Let’s talk about Botox & fillers

Most people end up geting Botox or fillers, because you don’t know there’s another option. Microcurrent is an alternative to Botox and fillers.

For this blog, we are going to use frown lines as an example. Most people start with Botox injections in the forehead, because who wants to look angry?

On the picture above, look at the frown lines and the muscles that feather out above it. Now look at the muscles on the side of the nose, they are connected to your frown lines.

When you put Botox in the frown lines and the surrounding muscles, you stop the muscle, temporarily paralyzing any movement.

Look along the side of the nose, there is a muscle that connects our eyes, nasolabial folds, and mouth to the frown lines. When you stop the forehead muscle from working, the muscle along the nose engages. That muscle is forced to work harder, which means, muscles around the eyes, mouth and side of the nose overcompensate for the muscles in your frown lines.

You are accelerating the aging process!

This is why you end up having to get more Botox. You’re aging your skin faster instead of slowing it down.

Microcurrent, on the other hand, strengthens and builds the muscles in the face and neck; softening frown lines, improving nasolabial folds, and sagging skin around the mouth, jowls, jawline, and neck.

I celebrated my 44th birthday the end of January, and have been doing microcurrent on my skin and several of my clients for the past seven years. The reason why I discovered microcurrent, is because I didn’t want to go the Botox option.

Botox scares me. There are little long-term studies on Botox and what it’s going to do to your muscles several years from now.

When you’re stopping a muscle from moving, that’s not natural. You’re putting poison in your body and paralyzing your muscles from functioning.

Microcurrent, on the other hand, will lift and strengthen your face muscles. If you have had Botox in the past, you can do microcurrent because it will strengthen your weakened muscles. If you have had reactions or side effects to Botox or fillers, Microcurrent is a safe option for you.
